Reel Reflection Movie Night brought together students for an evening of thought-provoking storytelling and meaningful conversation. Far beyond entertainment, the event aimed to inspire self-awareness, empathy, and discussion through the powerful medium of film.
This was the first event conducted under the Student Wellness Activities, an initiative launched by the Student Wellness Team at SLTC. The session was thoughtfully organized by Ms. Anupama Maddekanda, Lecturer from the Center for Communication and Skill Development, who guided the evening with care and insight.
The event was graced by Mr. Upul Jayantha Ranepura, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Drama, Cinema & Television at the University of Kelaniya, who attended as the Guest of Honor. His presence added depth to the evening, offering valuable perspectives on the power of cinema as a tool for reflection and social connection.
Held in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere, the screening was followed by an open reflection session where participants shared perspectives, discussed key themes, and connected the storylines to real-life experiences. Whether it was personal growth, social issues, or emotional journeys, every reel offered something deeper to take home.
Reel Reflection is more than just movie night—it’s a space where stories speak, and minds open.
