Dr. Sangeeth Rathnayaka

Dr. R. M. Sangeeth Rathnayaka, working as a Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Technology at SLTC Research University and working as Center Lead at SAERC (Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Research Center) and as a Senior Student Counsellor at the Faculty of Technology and senior advisor for the student Interactive Society and other societies at SLTC. In the meantime, Dr. Sangeeth is working as a Researcher on the project TEAL 2. O and DIGIT Asia at SLTC and the European Commission. While working as a lecturer of Agricultural technology subjects, He is a General secretary for the Rotary Yoneyama Sri Lanka Alumni Association (RYSLAA). Also, he is working with long-term collaborative researcher/Co-supervisor (Ph.D. Masters) with students exchanging with Sichuan Agricultural University in China. 

According to his profile, after completing his secondary education at St. Thomas’s College Matara, he joined the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in Crop Science (Hons) in agriculture in 2010. When he was in his undergraduate period, he worked as a Floriculture and Landscaping advisor for Ruhuna Business Incubator (PVT) Ltd. Soon after graduation, he joined the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna as a Temporary Research assistant and served for two years. In the meantime, he worked as an academic sub-Worden for the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna. Then he joined Link Natural Products (PVT) Ltd, Colombo as an Assistant Manager (Agriculture Research) and served for 3 years. Then, he completed his Master’s degree in Bioresource Science, Biological and Agricultural Sciences, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University, Japan, in 2018. In the meantime, with his studies, he worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Department of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University, Japan. Then, he completed my doctoral degree in Bioresource Science at the same university in Japan while working as a Research Assistant in the same department. During his studies in Japan, he was able to participate in and present at a chili pepper research workshop and seminar held at Sichuan Agricultural University in China and then join a field study in rural areas of Cambodia to explore plant genetic resources in Cambodia. In addition, he joined leadership development programs in Japan (RAYLA) and Sri Lanka. As an innovative researcher, he is conducting lectures and research in several fields related to agriculture technology and plant breeding, with many publications in international and national conferences and journals.
